studio flowers: salmon and pink ranunculus

Salmon and pink ranunculus with drooping black and pale yellow tulips in a green ceramic pitcher, on a white desk with reading glasses and a to do list. The list reads: to do: pick flowers for studio; make earrings.

The tulips are fading, but these salmon and pink ranunculus are still in bloom! I’d honestly never thought of growing them until I read Erin at Floret‘s glowing recommendation. I’m so glad I tried them!

I’m using the same green pitcher that my grandmother made this week — I love how the rough deep green glaze tones down the ruffled pink a bit. I feel like they’re a bit more “everyday beauty” than “ultimate tea party” this way — perfect for my desk.

I need to make a few more pairs of my Overlapping Graduated Earrings — they’re one of my favorite everyday styles. A little bit edgy, but still classic. Large enough to make a statement, but so airy and lightweight they’re easy to wear. They’re perfect for a travel capsule wardrobe too, since they go with anything. One last closeup, then back to work!

studio flowers: tulips, ranunculus, and anemone

A glimpse of a bouquet of yellow and black tulips with salmon ranunculus and a burgundy anemone in a hand-thrown glazed ceramic pitcher, on a white desk next to Wraptillion jewelry in progress, with glasses and tools.

Taking a moment to look up and appreciate this beautiful spring, in all its slightly bedraggled glory.

The flowers are Anemone ‘Mistral Bordeaux’ (burgundy), Ranunculus ‘Salmon’, Tulip ‘Antoinette’ (yellow) and ‘Black Parrot’, with green Tellima grandiflora and white and green summer snowflakes.

Pitcher made by my grandmother, jewelry by me, flowers from my garden.

style sketch redux: Breakfast at Tiffany’s goes Goth

An animated gif of a style sketch, with a watercolor-style black mini dress with a high neck and short sleeves and a photo of a pair of spiky silver-colored statement chandelier earrings (the Garland Earrings by Wraptillion). Animated text on image reads: start with you fav black mini dress; add edgy statement earrings; + sleek black mules + sunglasses (or cat eyeliner) + messy updo = Breakfast at Tiffany's goes Goth; style sketches by wraptillion

One of my fav summer black style sketches — now in animated GIF form! Here’s the original — and here are more of my style sketches! Have fun planning some future outfit ideas!

(This style idea was inspired by Everlane‘s Shirred Mini Dress (sadly discontinued now), paired with Wraptillion’s Garland Earrings. When I’m sketching, I love using my custom croquis (a personalized fashion sketching template) from MyBodyModel to “try out” new outfit ideas!)

studio flowers: amaryllis ‘Exotic Star’

Closeup of a hand and wrist wearing Wraptillion's spiky floral modern chainmail Garland Bracelet with three open flowers and a bud on green and red-striped amaryllis 'Exotic Star' (hippeastrum).

Look who’s in bloom now! Amaryllis ‘Exotic Star’ is brightening up this snowy day in my studio. I’m entranced by these pale green flowers, striped with dark maroon red. They’re so elegant and lush, more like an amazingly easy-to-care-for orchid or a huge alstroemeria. (Seen here with the Garland Bracelet I was supposed to be working on…)

I admit it — I spent way too long spinning the pot around so I could admire it from different angles! Hope you enjoy this bit of winter beauty and botanical-meets-modern lush style too!

You can see it just beginning to open here, with my miniature amaryllis ‘Saffron’.

studio flowers: amaryllis ‘Saffron’ (and almost-open ‘Exotic Star’)

Amaryllis 'Saffron' (a miniature sonatini type hippeastrum) blooming with three pale greenish yellow spidery flowers open.

Tiny little amaryllis ‘Saffron’ is in bloom today in my studio! It’s a miniature Sonatini-type, and its spidery petals look like it’s a cybister-type to me too. Such a delicate, pretty pale green/yellow flower! Here it is with ‘Evergreen’ and ‘Exotic Star’ (just starting to open) so you can see how petite it is. (Much taller ‘La Paz’ is still going strong too, with another spike about to open! I just didn’t have room on my desk for them all!)

Potted amaryllis (Hippeastrum) 'Evergreen' (cybister type, in bloom), 'Saffron' (miniature sonatini, in bloom), and 'Exotic Star' (perhaps a papilio hybrid, buds beginning to open) on a white desk in Wraptillion's studio.

And here they are with my 10-inch laptop, for scale. (Such a nice view while I’m editing images today!)

Amaryllis ‘Exotic Star’ looks like a Hippeastrum papilio hybrid to me, with its dark red stripes and pale greenish flower. My papilios aren’t ready yet, but I’m enjoying the way ‘Exotic Star’ is dramatically unfurling.
