style sketch redux: Breakfast at Tiffany’s goes Goth

An animated gif of a style sketch, with a watercolor-style black mini dress with a high neck and short sleeves and a photo of a pair of spiky silver-colored statement chandelier earrings (the Garland Earrings by Wraptillion). Animated text on image reads: start with you fav black mini dress; add edgy statement earrings; + sleek black mules + sunglasses (or cat eyeliner) + messy updo = Breakfast at Tiffany's goes Goth; style sketches by wraptillion

One of my fav summer black style sketches — now in animated GIF form! Here’s the original — and here are more of my style sketches! Have fun planning some future outfit ideas!

Style sketch of a loose black mini dress with short sleeves and a high collar, paired with Wraptillion's spiky chandelier Garland Earrings. Text on image reads: + sleek black mules + huge sunglasses (or cat eyeliner) + messy updo = Breakfast at Tiffany's goes Goth.

(This style idea was inspired by Everlane‘s Shirred Mini Dress (sadly discontinued now), paired with Wraptillion’s Garland Earrings. When I’m sketching, I love using my custom croquis (a personalized fashion sketching template) from MyBodyModel to “try out” new outfit ideas!)

studio flowers: rose hips and industrial glass for fall

studio flowers: rose hips and industrial glass for fall

Today’s view from my workbench: rose hips from my alba roses in a little vase my grandmother made, a tiny potted succulent, and the Industrial Glass collection earrings I’ve been working on, all in fall colors. Such a beautiful arrangement, even without flowers! I love little seasonal vignettes that brighten my workspace and connect the jewelry I’m making with my garden outside.

See more of my studio flowers posts.

It would be fun to mix the orange and black Small Circle Earrings for Halloween! I love how the chartreuse of the Small Cascading Earrings sets off the orange so beautifully.

mix & match your style: mod or industrial for a fun lunch with friends

Start with your favorite short, neutral skirt and a sleek knit top. This is a great time to pull out those classic neutral pieces that don’t stand out on their own, but are oh-so-comfortable. Dress your look down with denim or up with something more tailored — it’s a great easy look for a casual Friday, too.

Shown here: the Pima Micro Rib Funnel-Neck Tank from Everlane in black and the Harper Stretch Cotton Twill Cargo Skirt from Universal Standard in ivy.

Then pick a new style to try. Perhaps a sleek mod look for lunch in the city with your chic urban friends? Something neutral but classic, stylish but not trendy.

Shown: the Pima Micro Rib Funnel-Neck Tank from Everlane in black and the Harper Stretch Cotton Twill Cargo Skirt from Universal Standard in ivy, with the Overlapping Graduated Earrings and the Graduated Necklace from Wraptillion and the Melissa Inside Zip Tall Boots from Frye in black.

Or test out a cool industrial style for lunch at the museum or an art walk with your friends who always find those perfectly unique accessories.

Shown: the Pima Micro Rib Funnel-Neck Tank from Everlane in black and the Harper Stretch Cotton Twill Cargo Skirt from Universal Standard in ivy, with the Rose Window Pendant and Rose Window Earrings from Wraptillion and the Veronica Belted Short Boots from Frye in black.

See how easy it can be to try out a new look? Add a jacket for fall, or swap out boots for sandals for summer… A pop of color gives it a whole new spin… Let yourself have fun with your style!

PS Cocooning at home right now? Stay safe, and use this time to test out some new looks for when you emerge! Try out a new look for your next video call and see how you like it.

mix & match your style: chic or boho for casual Friday

mix & match your style: chic or boho for casual Friday

Start with your favorite cropped slacks and an easy smock blouse — something loose but artistic. Think farmer’s market in Paris: so classic — and so ready for a new twist to make it feel fresh again.

Shown here: the Silky Cotton Split-Neck Blouse from Everlane and the Karlee Stretch Cotton Twill Cargo Pants from Universal Standard, both in black.

Then pick a new style to try. How about an easy but still chic look for your conference travel day, catching up over lunch with a colleague you’ve known for years, or just in case the boss stops by your office?

Shown: the Silky Cotton Split-Neck Blouse from Everlane and the Karlee Stretch Cotton Twill Cargo Pants from Universal Standard, both in black, with the Small Concentric Circles Earrings from Wraptillion, the Chocolate Chip Cashmere and Silk Scarf by Chan Luu, and the Grace Venetian Flats in black by Frye.

Just swap out your separates for another casual chic office look!

Or nudge your style toward artistic and boho for a casual Friday look that fits your mood when it’s time to celebrate wrapping up that big project, or you’ve got a fun happy hour at the end of the day.

Shown: the Silky Cotton Split-Neck Blouse from Everlane and the Karlee Stretch Cotton Twill Cargo Pants from Universal Standard, both in black, with the Garland Earrings by Wraptillion, the Outer Space Vintage Floral Print Cashmere and Silk Scarf by Chan Luu, and the Reed Feather Bootie in black by Frye.
