studio flowers: snowdrop ‘Blewbury Tart’ + late winter flowers

Here’s a few quick glimpses from my studio, including this little studio flowers arrangement of late winter flowers and the Vine pieces I’ve been working on.

Galanthus ‘Blewbury Tart’ is one of my fav snowdrops — my original plant came from Heronswood Nursery a couple of decades ago, and they’ve done so well ever since. To go with them, I picked some evergreen huckleberry, white flowering currant, pale pink plum blossoms, and a bit of winter honeysuckle for the scent. The little ceramic vase was made by my grandmother.

studio flowers: salmon and pink ranunculus

Salmon and pink ranunculus with drooping black and pale yellow tulips in a green ceramic pitcher, on a white desk with reading glasses and a to do list. The list reads: to do: pick flowers for studio; make earrings.

The tulips are fading, but these salmon and pink ranunculus are still in bloom! I’d honestly never thought of growing them until I read Erin at Floret‘s glowing recommendation. I’m so glad I tried them!

I’m using the same green pitcher that my grandmother made this week — I love how the rough deep green glaze tones down the ruffled pink a bit. I feel like they’re a bit more “everyday beauty” than “ultimate tea party” this way — perfect for my desk.

I need to make a few more pairs of my Overlapping Graduated Earrings — they’re one of my favorite everyday styles. A little bit edgy, but still classic. Large enough to make a statement, but so airy and lightweight they’re easy to wear. They’re perfect for a travel capsule wardrobe too, since they go with anything. One last closeup, then back to work!

studio flowers: tulips, ranunculus, and anemone

Taking a moment to look up and appreciate this beautiful spring, in all its slightly bedraggled glory.

The flowers are Anemone ‘Mistral Bordeaux’ (burgundy), Ranunculus ‘Salmon’, Tulip ‘Antoinette’ (yellow) and ‘Black Parrot’, with green Tellima grandiflora and white and green summer snowflakes.

studio flowers

Here are few quick peeks behind the scenes — not just at the jewelry I make, but of the flowers and plants I bring in to inspire me and to brighten up my workspace. See what’s been blooming in my studio!

studio flowers: amaryllis ‘Exotic Star’

Look who’s in bloom now! Amaryllis ‘Exotic Star’ is brightening up this snowy day in my studio. I’m entranced by these pale green flowers, striped with dark maroon red. They’re so elegant and lush, more like an amazingly easy-to-care-for orchid or a huge alstroemeria. (Seen here with the Garland Bracelet I was supposed to be working on…)

I admit it — I spent way too long spinning the pot around so I could admire it from different angles! Hope you enjoy this bit of winter beauty and botanical-meets-modern lush style too!

You can see it just beginning to open here, with my miniature amaryllis ‘Saffron’.
